Flowistic is now a Certified EPEX M7 ISV
We’re pleased to announce that Flowistic GmbH is now a Certified Independent Software Vendor (ISV) for the M7 intraday continuous market operated by EPEX SPOT — the European Power Exchange and the largest physical electricity trading venue on the continent.
This status formalises a relationship we’ve been building through our work delivering low-latency, production-grade trading infrastructure for power markets.
What is M7?
M7 is EPEX SPOT’s continuous intraday trading platform. It is the system through which utilities, traders, asset operators, and aggregators trade short-term power in real time across European market areas. Anyone running an algorithmic strategy, an automated execution engine, or a balancing-portfolio optimiser against intraday power needs to speak M7 — either directly through a trading membership or through a certified software vendor.
What ISV certification means
The ISV programme is how EPEX accredits software providers that build and operate solutions on top of the M7 API. To be listed, a vendor has to sign EPEX’s ISV agreement, integrate against the documented API in a test environment, and pass EPEX’s conformance tests on its production interface.
In practice, this means:
- We have a contractual relationship with EPEX that covers ongoing access to the M7 API, market data, and the data-vendor setup designed for ISVs.
- Our integration has been validated against EPEX’s conformance requirements.
- Flowistic is listed on the EPEX website as a recognised ISV, alongside other certified vendors.
What this enables for our clients
For energy trading desks, utilities, and aggregators we work with, the certification removes a class of friction:
- A shorter path to production: clients can build on top of, or integrate with, software we’ve already certified against EPEX’s conformance tests, rather than running that programme themselves end-to-end.
- A vetted feed-handler stack: our M7 connectivity, market data ingestion, and order routing components are the same ones we’ve taken through EPEX’s certification — not a prototype.
- A shared data-vendor setup: under the ISV programme, EPEX supports collecting the public data feed once and distributing it to our clients, which is materially more efficient than each client subscribing to the public feed in isolation.
This complements the work we’ve already published on building real-time market data consumers and async-first trading architectures for energy clients.
Talk to us
